Apple fried.

Out along the western border of Arkansas, a ribbon of highway winds about.  It's U.S. 71... and eventually it will be superceded by the future I-49.

The highway passes through the community of Boles, just north of Y City... and at Boles you'll find a long log-sided cabin.  That's Fred's Country Cookin', and it's a good place to eat.

Inside, you'll find a menu littered with barbecue and burgers, and if you're lucky there will be fried catfish.  But any time you go, you can have a fried pie.  Crispy and served hot, Fred's only fries its pies to order, and hot is the only way they come out.  The apple fried pie is packed with cinnamon and it's better than... well, apple pie.

Learn more about the other food served there, here.
